Pernicious the Musquodoboit Harbour Farm Cat first visited Callahan's Crosstime Saloon in its alt.callahans guise on 8 March 1996, when he found he could not resist the temptation to leave the realm of non-existence to reply to Jaelle's incautious remark to the effect that "It would not just be the fundy Christians who would object to your 'rational' calendar." His historic, epic-making, practically mythical reply is reproduced in full below:

"Pernicious the cat, a native of Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia, but well-travelled throughout the province, has asked Barnstead to find out if 'Fundy Christians' are the ones with the highest tithes in the world.

Barnstead looks around quickly for an object to hide beneath, and takes refuge beneath a scale model of the tidal energy station..."

Since that time Pernicious the Musquodoboit Harbour Farm Cat, not infrequently in general spatial-temporal vicinity of his faithful amanuensis and general factotum (a mild-mannered, pudgy, and more-than-non-descript associate professor of Russian named Barnstead), has been not infrequently observed to recline elegantly on top of the pile of ham sandwiches comprising the Free Lunch (tm).
