A list of characters and patrons that have graced Callahan's Place and Spider Robinson's stories set in the Callahan's multiverse. This basic list was drawn from the wikipedia entry for Callahan's Crosstime Saloon
- Jake Stonebender (narrator) - tried to commit suicide (after his wife and kids died in a car accident because he decided to install his own brakes) but Doc Webster saved him and ordered him to Callahan’s.
- Zoey Stonebender-Berkowitz - Jake's wife
- Erin Stonebender-Berkowitz - Jake And Zoe's daughter
- Mike Callahan - Owner of the bar, the proverbial Mick of Time
- Lady Sally McGee - Mike's wife and owner/operator of Lady Sally's House
- Mary Callahan - Mike and Lady Sally's daughter. Married Michael Finn
- Doc Webster - The resident doctor in the bar and overall the grand Punster
- Fast Eddie - The bar's piano player (sterile)
- Phil Long Drink McGonnigle - A mid-western cowboy type who got his nickname from Jake when he first laid eyes on him and said You are one long drink of water.
- Tom Hauptman - was a minister who went on missionary work in Central America, got caught in a Revolution and was locked away for 10 years in a prison by the revolutionary leader with his wife. Tom's wife died of malaria while they were imprisoned, and the removal of her body is what got him eventually released. He is considered an honest time traveler, because he traveled 10 years all at once, with no technology to help him. Callahan offers him a job at the bar.

- Slippery Joe Maser - has 2 wives
- Marty Matthias - doesn’t gamble anymore (had a gambling issue).
- Noah Gonzalez - works on the bomb squad
- Michael Finn - An advanced android sent by his Masters' aka the Cockroaches, to destroy the world. When he finds “love” at Callahan’s he has a change of heart and turns against his former Masters. Married to Mary Callahan
- Pyotr - A vampire who refuses to drink blood.
- Josie Bauer - A Timecop from the 26th century, sent back to Callahan's to keep an eye on the probability nexus
- Rachel - A long-lived woman who endured seeing every child she had borne die before she did. Got involved with Fast Eddie and finally passed on after almost 300 years of long life. Has some cells frozen for the future development of cloning a child.
- Tommy Janssen - former heroin addict
- Big Beef McCaffrey - was thrown bodily out of the bar in 1947 by Mike Callahan for stiffing him on the tab. In the process, the solid oak front door was split on his head. It is mended, but poorly.
- Chuck Sams - was dead for a while before Doc Webster saved him.
- Shorty Steinetz - had his appendix removed by Doc Webster on Callahan’s bar.
- Nikola Tesla - yes, The Nikola Tesla - He didn't die, but became a time traveler instead. Taught Erin how to Transit, or Teleport.
- Ralph Von Wau Wau - A surgically altered German shepard who had his vocal cords modified so they could handle human speech. Unfortunately for his owner, Ralph was also a mutant, born with human intelligence.
- Harry - A parrot who has two unusual traits - Being raised in a brothel, he has a very colorful repertoire of language, and he also uses a pint-sized commode set up on the bar top.
- Alf - A Florida Key Deer who has the ability to speak his mind, and he does ... quite bluntly.
- Pixel - Robert Heinlein's cat, otherwise known as The Cat Who Walks through Walls. Adopted the Patrons after Heinlein's death in 1988. Pixel torments Harry but will not allow anybody else to. Pixel has the ability to teleport.
